A little about HRANF!

From backyards to beaches, we can help you recover that lost item, 99% of everything we unearth was not put there on purpose. Maybe you lost a class ring while swinging from that old tree off the St. Johns or an earring while watching that young superstar from the sidelines. The sooner you contact us the better the chances of recovery. It's never too late to look - we can help. Checkout some of the things we have recovered for others who thought their item was gone forever.

Who are we?

HRANF is an association of metal detecting and history enthusiasts based in Jacksonville Florida. Our members come from the Jacksonville area and cities all over northeast Florida and south Georgia. We represent a wide range of metal detecting interest from relic hunting, coin shooting, jewelry hunting, and treasure/beach hunting. Some of us take it a step further in documenting and recording the recovery of our unearthed history that still lies beneath our feet. Jacksonville is a beautiful city that has so much history, a history that has so many fascinating stories. We search for those stories, one beep at a time.

If you have a property that you think may be hiding some historical artifacts, say a cleared piece of property or an old 1800's - 1900's dwelling that you own we can discuss the potential for searching and finding buried artifacts, put a team together, explain the process, and set a date for the search. You might be surprised what comes out of the ground right under your feet!

DetectingResearch.com partnership with HRANF

HRANF has partnered with Detecting Research to bring you and maintain the HRANF web site along with the tools, services and metal detecting supplies that you may need. One of the most common question from new "B's" is where do I start researching new locations? Everyone asks that question and the answer is..... believe it or not a good starting point for research is Wikipedia. Start by searching on a county, town or landmark for some information but pay special attention to the blue hyperlinks throughout the Wikipedia web page and the ones at the bottom in the Reference section. All of these blue hyperlinks will bring you to other web sites and information that you can use to dig deeper into the research you are doing.

Additionally the Research and Resources page on the Detecting Research web site DetectingResearch.com has a number of web sites and tools that you can use to research any location that you are interested in. Including tools that help you learn about and how to use LIDAR, (Light Detection and Ranging!) which is fast becoming one of the best tools to locate old towns, roads and places to hunt that have been covered over by nature.
